Hello, to all, and hoping you and your families are staying safe. This unprecedented virus is causing all of us to re-evaluate how we work, play, and live. I do not know about you folks, but I am tired of being in my house all the time. I rarely go in, and work from home. I do this to do my part for society; it is a very small sacrifice in the grand scheme of things.
When the shelter in place orders started coming down the road, we were fielding tons of calls to get people set up to work from home. Clients were calling about laptops to borrow, but we did not have them to lend. We had to set up phones for people to work from home, video conferencing, internal communications, vpns to get the people to the applications they needed to work remotely. We were going bonkers that first month of this unfortunate new reality.
As we all listen or not listen to the daily news about what is going on and how the world will respond to one of the greatest challenges in history, there is no solid answers to when this will end, only more questions. Will this thing magically go away like some think, or will it take 2 or more years to develop a vaccine to give people confidence to go about their business pre coronavirus. I don’t think we will ever get back to the way we were until this is defeated.
With all the uncertainty in our new normal, we have come up with solutions to soften the blow of the virus. While we at NPI can’t come up with a vaccine, we do our part, and help with your business continuity and keep you running as efficiently as possible with the new distributed work force. I have read that we may work in shifts now, or have some folks come in on different days. The moral is we just don’t know. What we do know is that we have to be prepared to have folks work from home in a moment’s notice.
NPI is working on an offering to address the new normal. What if all your employees had a laptop as their regular computer at work, think mobility. What if that laptop had all the applications and the ability to connect anywhere, with a phone, video conferencing ready to go, chat, and technical help when they need it. What if your organization didn’t have to worry about refreshing the computers, and that was taken care of every 3-5 years. We are putting this in place to make sure our clients have the best chance for success, and not have to scramble if all of a sudden we are ordered to shelter in place again. Think office in a box, your people will be able to work as if they are in the office, and communicate with coworkers, customers, vendors as if they are still in the office. These new times call for new solutions, and business practices.
