NPI was founded in 1984 by Mike Huston as Northwest Programming Inc. with a focus on custom database programming. We developed applications for dBase, FoxPro, Access and SQL. Based on this focus NPI became a Value-added reseller of Visual Accountmate, an accounting system with the distinction of offering source code (FoxPro) allowing customers to customize their accounting package.
In 1995 NPI hired two burned out programmers, Vincent Preece and Kalen Krueger. They saw a need for network support on customer’s networks and an opportunity to stop programming. When they started talking with customers about doing network support many potential clients would ask “Why would I get network support from a programming company”? So In 1995 NP Information Systems was born.
In 2004 NPI entered the world of Voice over IP (VoIP). After reviewing many different VoIP phone systems NPI selected Asterisk as our primary service offering. NPI is currently the largest Asterisk support organization in the Pacific Northwest, and the only Digium Select reseller in the region.
